Our
Favorite Places In The Park
Visitor's
Center
We recommend the park visitor center inside the entrance as
your first stop. There are a variety of displays that will
help you understand the volcano, its behavior and the unique
terrain that you are about to see.
Volcano Art Center Gallery
This is a wonderful gallery that displays the work of island
artists. My own art (Andrea Pro) is displayed in the gallery.
I am a woodcut artist and I work in my print studio on the farm.
I do multiple-block color woodcut prints that are rich in texture
and detail. My Hawaiian Native Plant Series is featured in the
gallery along with other editioned woodcut prints inspired by
the island.
A final word about visiting the volcano-- this
is a rough and wild place. And it is also a place held sacred
by the Hawaiian people. Follow the park's safety guidelines
and please show honor and respect for the privilege you have
of visiting this place.
For detailed information to help you plan your
visit see the Park's web site at www.hawaii.volcanoes.national-park.com
or call the visitor's center at (808) 985-6000.
